He’s making history (again) during the Rio Olympics, but Usain Bolt did something impressive years ago that is suddenly grabbing a wave of attention on the web.
The record-breaking running from Jamaica was in the midst of an interview with Television Espanola when he politely paused to pay respects during the United States’ National Anthem.
During the live interview, Bolt is track-side when he stands with his country’s flag around his neck and pauses during the Star Spangled Banner.
When the anthem wraps, he apologizes to the reporter and then answers the rest of her questions to finish the interview.
Thanks to Bolt’s continued success in Rio, he’s won three gold medals in the Men’s 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay, the clip resurfaced and went viral instantly.
Many fans are praising Bolt for his classy action to respect the US’ anthem.
“Not sure if I’ve seen an American athlete do this before,” read one comment. “You stay classy Bolt.”
“This is how a real champion behaves!” someone wrote. “Go Usain Bolt!”
We think it’s pretty awesome, too! Way to be a Good Celebrity!
