A few weeks ago I was hanging out in the parking lot with some family at Angels stadium after a game when some fans near us sent up a drone. It flew out 200 yards and up, over around the stadium like it was no big deal. We became parking lot friends quickly, and as it turns out this drone was pretty neat and really not that expensive considering all it could do. Roughly $800 retail, easy to use and even had a feature that would map its path, returning it home automatically with the push of a button. Bumping into these folks made me realize how behind I was with drone-tech and how fast it has all developed in just a few short years. I had noticed a rapid increase of the amount of drone expos and trade shows in and around Orange County.
This morning I stumbled onto the Micro Drone 3.0’s Indiegogo page this morning and had to share. Streaming HD camera footage right to your phone and launched from the palm of your hand. Now this looks fun!
Features include modular tech, sensor-assisted flight including auto-leveling (which I need, as a novice pilot) and the world’s smallest micro-gimbal for live streaming video. They advertise a 300-foot range and the capability to fly in wind up to 45 mph, which means this tiny spaceship-looking drone packs an aggressive punch.
