On June 23rd, it was announced that John Green would be have a bidding war for people who want to become a part of his newest book. The PEN/Faulkner Foundation and John Green himself both posted to Twitter about the contest, where hopeful fans can contribute money to the foundation for aspiring writers as a bid. The highest bidder will then be chosen as the newest namesake for a character in the next John Green book.
Additionally, if you’re at all aware of Green’s books and/or storylines, you’ll know that he tends to have a multitude of sad events and the occasional death. However, he promises that whoevers name is chosen for this particular character will have their namesake remain alive for the duration of the novel. That is quite a feat for Green (we’re still recovering from The Fault in Our Stars, thanks a lot…)
I promise your character will not die in the novel. (but I can’t promise when the book will be finished) https://t.co/6BCe4KSZuV
