Though we would all love to be paid to travel the world and vacation non-stop, it just isn’t in the cards for us. Brooke Saward, on the other hand, does just that for a living. The Tasmania native bought a one-way ticket on the day of her university graduation to spend one year in London.
She began her blogging career by simply reviewing places she would visit, writing about the beautiful sites, posting pictures and giving her opinion of various places to eat. Over time, she gained a mass amount of popularity and followers. On Instagram alone she has 227K followers, while on Twitter she has 16.2K and gets high amounts of regular traffic on her site, World of Wanderlust.
However, it’s not all fun and games, as Saward has encountered some very tricky situations and some not so trustworthy people. In Bolivia she dealt with two attempted muggings, food poisoning and a missed bus. On a different trip, she was also left by a travelling partner whom she helped pay for during a visit to Romania. Once the two travellers got to their next destination, Venice, her supposed friend took off, blocking her on every kind of social media not allowing for Saward to contact her for reimbursement purposes.
She has visited 6 continents and about 50 countries in the last year alone, travelling non-stop and flying home every so often to visit her family in Australia. Her blog has since expanded beyond reviews of eateries and destinations and now has articles about the best tips for young women traveling alone, the best ways to stay healthy while on the go and has even written books on solo travel and how to create a successful blog.
Her first printed hard copy will come this year, appropriately titled ‘A Year To Myself’, which will tell of her journey thus far, what she’s learned, as well as advice she hopes new travellers keep in mind.
From all of us here at Good Celebrity, we hope only for the best and magical of trips to come for you Brooke Saward! And if you should need a travel buddy, we’re here for you..
