We all have heard of it. Friends going out of their way to give a helping hand to people they care about – could be through financial assistance, giving a ride, or by simply being there when we need shoulders to cry on.
But how about a person donating an organ to a best friend battling an incurable autoimmune disease?
This is exactly what Bring It On actress, Francia Raisa, did for singer-actress, Selena Gomez. The transplant happened in June at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. It was not until a few days ago, on September 14, that both ladies took to Instagram to share to the world the amazing thing that occurred.
We remember the Disney Channel alum was diagnosed with Lupus in 2015. She has been fighting the disease ever since. While at her boyfriend The Weeknd’s concert in May 2017, she was rushed to a hospital for kidney failure. She was immediately listed as a candidate for kidney transplant.
People surrounding the besties weren’t aware of the details of the surgery but they were not surprised that Francia was Selena’s donor. They were that close – like sisters. A friend to both even shared, “They’ve always been very spiritual and into God, and even more so now. They both prayed a lot about this surgery once Selena’s health issues got worse.”
