Music star and actor Ed Sheeran has announced that he’s to donate a ‘once-in-a-lifetime experience’ with online auctioning platform CharityStars.
Up for bids is the opportunity for two people to enjoy an ‘intimate meeting’ with Ed Sheeran on 19th June, a day after his four-night run of performances at Wembley Arena. The experience also includes extras such as taking home a guitar signed by Sheeran, and two exclusive VIP tickets – not open to general release – to an evening event, ‘An Evening with Dermot O’Leary and Ed Sheeran’, hosted by the two stars, joined by Annie Mac and Sara Cox. Full details of the auction can be found here.
The auction has been organized to support the London Irish Centre, which has worked for over 60 years in the Irish community in the capital. The charity aims to function as a ‘home from home’ to young Irish immigrants, providing a mix of high-quality services, projects and events to support the changing needs and interests of Irish people in London. London Irish Centre also promotes Irish art, culture, and heritage for the public benefit.
The Ed Sheeran auction will run until this 4:00 pm (BST) this Thursday 14th June (2018), and is accepting bids in digital currencies AidCoin, Bitcoin, and Ethereum.
“This auction is part of the great positive incline of renowned celebrities accepting cryptocurrencies as a means of funding their campaigns. Most recent examples being a successful auction for a power lunch with Bitcoin.com CEO, Roger Ver, and teaming-up with model Naomi Campbell for her ‘Fashion For Relief’ campaign, to which CharityStars hosted a live auction at this years’ Cannes fashion show,” said Francesco Nazari Fusetti, CEO, and Co-Founder at CharityStars.
“This year has seen a surge in popularity of celebrities and organizations that choose to accept cryptocurrency donations [for charitable fundraising].” Fusetti described the trend as representative of a “new era of charitable giving”.
