George Lopez and many of his closest friends gathered together for a round of golf in the blazing sun for the 2017 George Lopez 10th Anniversary Celebrity Golf Classic benefitting the George Lopez Foundation.
The sold out event was held at Lakeside Golf Club in Toluca Lake and raised over $700,000. Money raised goes directly to help send kids with kidney disease to summer camp.
“When I got better, I decided that my mission was going to be to try and help kids,” George Lopez told us before teeing off.
George was diagnosed with kidney disease in 2004. During his recovery, the comedian made it his mission to help kids fighting kidney disease. He started the George Lopez Foundation to give back.
The organization’s mission reads: “To create positive, permanent change for underprivileged children, adults and military families confronting challenges in education and health, as well as increasing community awareness about kidney disease and organ donation.”
For the past 10 years, Lopez has hosted his successful golf outing as a primary fundraiser for his organization.
