In an Instagram video that the movie star published earlier this week, the Rock surprised his mother Ata with a brand new home.

According to the caption, the Rock has always done his best to take care of his mother and father. After he and his parents had spent years living on the road, he finally bought them their first house in 1999.

“They divorced about 5 years later and as with life, stuff happens and things got a little complicated,” writes the Rock. “Since then, I always made sure my mom and dad have everything they’ll ever need – houses, cars etc.

“But the house this time is a special one and the timing is very meaningful. I told her to treat this card like it’s ‘Willy Wonka’s Golden Ticket’ because she gets to choose any home she wants – anywhere she wants.”

Needless to say, Ata was stunned by the surprise – but her bewilderment quickly turned to tears of love and gratitude.

“I always say, if you got a good mama, then you gotta pretty good shot at becoming a decent human being,” concluded the Rock. “And somehow, somewhere along the line I became one lucky SOB to be able to make stuff like this happen.

Reed, who is also Johnson’s cousin, thought he was doing a behind-the-scenes interview and instead was surprised with the token of appreciation.

“Over the course of my career, my stunt double (and cousin) Tanoai Reed has broken multiple bones, severed tendons, torn ligaments & just been an overall dominating bad ass achieving several “Stuntman of the Year” honors,” Johnson wrote along with the video. “I had this custom pick up truck delivered just in time to surprise him (he’s still recovering from a stunt injury) while we give what he thought was going to be an interview about our careers together.”

Dressed in a black turtle neck sweater, jeans, silver necklace, and a fanny pack strapped around her waist, Kelzenberg asked Johnson in her Twitter video that she posted on April 15.

In the video, Kelzenberg’s selling point when she asked Johnson to the prom was that she was his biggest fan and that she has a pretty big merchandise collection. But the one that totally sold her promposal? The banner she created, which totally ROCKS!

The clip, which has been viewed more than 329,000 times, managed to find its way to Johnson, and to Kelzenberg’s surprise, he actually answered back.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t go to the prom with her as Johnson admitted that he would be in Hawaii at the time filming for his upcoming movie “Jungle Cruise.” However, he did have a surprise for her and everyone else — and it was a pretty big one.

The Rock actually rented out an entire 232-seat theater just for Kelzenberg and her friends/loved ones to watch his new movie “Rampage.” He also covered all their snacks!

Johnson may not be with Kelzenberg at her prom, but he did give her the best prom gift ever.

Along with the heartfelt video, “The Rock” wrote, “Things got a lil’ hairy this weekend. Thank you LAFD first responders & UCLA medical team. We’re grateful to you all and if you ever need anything, I got your back.”

In the video, which was filmed mid-workout, the 45-year-old actor explained, “This past Saturday night, something happened to me and my family that I would never want to happen to any of you, but, of course, emergencies do happen. We were up all night with something scary that happened with our little baby girl Jasmine, who is okay now.”

The grateful star made it clear he was thankful for all the help: “I just want to say thank you so much to everyone who was involved—so caring, compassionate and so responsive.”

His final words were to other parents, who may have to experience similar situations in the future: “To all you mommies and daddies out there, when emergencies like this happen, I would just highly recommend that you stay as calm and as focused as possible because our little babies energetically, they pick up on what we’re putting out—especially in times of stress.”

The superstar did not give any details of the “scary” incident that brought the family into the hospital.

In December, Johnson took to Instagram to announce that “Jazzy” would be a big sister to another baby girl.

In addition to Jazzy and his unborn daughter, Johnson also has a 16-year-old daughter Simone Johnson, who served as the 2018 Golden Globes ambassador, from his previous marriage to Dany Garcia.

Whiteman told Global News Johnson’s reaction on Twitter was both a surprise and validation for her point in choosing him.

“He’s aware of those who admire him and takes the time to recognize it,” she said.

So of all the people in the world, why pick The Rock?

“Aside from choosing an individual largely involved in my own sport of track and field, I tried to think of someone I could easily strike up conversation with and learn from,” the third-year U of A arts student said.

“He has such a positive influence on so many people and has worked incredibly hard to be where he is, I think that sets a really good example. Not to mention he’s super funny and laid back.”

The interview with U SPORTS also highlighted the 22-year-old’s athletic accomplishments, which include being Pandas Outstanding Female Rookie of the Year in 2016, Canada West Women’s Track Athlete of the Year in 2017, and being a three-time First Team All-Canadian.

Whiteman, who grew up southwest of Edmonton, competed in track and field during junior high at Graminia Community School in Parkland County and then at John Maland High School in Devon, Alta., but didn’t start serious training until after she graduated Grade 12 in 2013.

Now, the environmental studies student splits her time between track training two to four a day, five days a week, going to class, studying and working two jobs.

“I work at the Learning Assessment Centre in the education building here on campus. I work to proctor exams and ensure a safe and comfortable exam experience for students from all faculties,” she said. “I also help my parents with their business, PartyKing.”

Whiteman competes in 300 metre, 600 metre, 4×200 metre and 4×400 metre relay races.

If dinner with Dwayne doesn’t work out, she said she’d love to sit down with Canadian 800-metre runner Melissa Bishop, who competed in the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, and won a silver medal at the 2015 World Athletics Championships.

The Oscar winners each donated $1 million toward emergency and recovery efforts in Texas with DiCaprio shelling out for the United Way Harvey Recovery Fund and Bullock sending financial support to the American Red Cross.

“I’m just grateful I can do it,” said Bullock, who has a home in Austin. “We all have to do our part.”

Bullock also related the humanitarian efforts to the current political divide in the country. “There are no politics in eight feet of water. There are human beings in eight feet of water,” she said in a statement.

Vice president of communications for the Red Cross, Elizabeth Penniman, expressed her gratitude toward Bullock and other celebrities for giving back.

“Massive disasters like Hurricane Harvey create many critical and immediate needs, so we are heartened by donations like this — which allow us to provide immediate shelter, food and comfort to thousands in need,” she said. “The entertainment community has been so supportive to the Red Cross in response to this devastating disaster, and we are so grateful.”

DiCaprio didn’t comment on his donation but United Way Worldwide president and CEO Brian Gallagher did send his thanks.

“We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of Leonardo DiCaprio and his foundation,” said Gallagher. “Responding to Hurricane Harvey requires the best of all of us — and that’s what this gift represents.”

“I wish we could hang out and talk like your wish was. I want you to know I know so much about you,” Johnson said. “You love chicken, I love chicken. Your favorite color is red, I love red. You love to play Call of Duty, I suck at Call of Duty. You love pancakes, I love pancakes. Your favorite treat is Rice Krispie treats,” he added.

“I want you to know that even though I can’t see you and be with you, I want you to know you’re already one of the most amazing and coolest kids I’ve ever spoken to. You are stronger than I will ever be,” he said before taking a moment to fight back tears. He then added, “Stay strong.”

Johnson reiterated his message of strength in a caption accompanying the video.

Dwayne regularly teams with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. While on the set of his upcoming movie, Baywatch, The Rock made a wish come true for a young fan named Ashley.

During shooting on that same film, he met with a family celebrating the first birthday of their daughter, Sally, who at only five months of age, underwent open heart surgery.

“Her mama, Sarah here was so grateful we had a chance to meet and got teary eyed when talking about her baby and said something so simple, powerful and true.. ‘If Sally can fight thru this, then we can do anything.’ Amen. Yes you can,” he wrote in an Instagram post

When she was 5months old she had open heart surgery and has been an inspiring lil’ fighter since that day. Her mama, Sarah here was so grateful we had a chance to meet and got teary eyed when talking about her baby and said something so simple, powerful and true.. “If Sally can fight thru this, then we can do anything.” Amen.
