Here comes the future royal bride and groom!
Just hours after announcing their engagement, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appeared together at Kensington Palace on Monday afternoon to celebrate the happy news, pose for their official engagement photos and record a television broadcast due to air on Monday evening.
The royal couple held their photocall in the Sunken Gardens, which was one of Princess Diana’s favorite places. When asked by the press how they feel, Harry replied: “Thrilled.” Very glad it’s not raining!” Markle then added: “So happy.”
When asked when he knew she was the one, Harry said with a smile: “The very first time we met.”
The glowing couple walked out into the garden holding hands. Markle, who fittingly wore a stunning white coat by Line the Label, lovingly stroked her fiancé’s arm as reporters asked them for details on the proposal. “That will come later,” Harry said. When asked if the proposal was romantic, Harry replied: “Of course it was.” A smiling Markle then added: “Very.”
The couple also showed off Markle’s stunning diamond engagement ring, which Harry designed himself. The center stone is a diamond from Botswana, a country that holds a significant place in Harry’s heart. The outside two diamonds are from his late mother Princess Diana’s collection.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s photocall is the first time the couple has appeared together since they walked hand-in-hand into the Toronto Invictus Games in September.
According to Clarence House, the wedding will take place in Spring 2018. It will be the biggest royal wedding since his brother Prince William walked down the aisle with Kate Middleton in 2011.
In a statement, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip said they were “delighted for the couple and wish them every happiness.”

Seven years ago, in November 2010, Prince William and Kate Middleton held their official photocall at London’s St James’s Palace to celebrate their impending marriage. As they smiled for the camera, the reporters asked the young couple questions.
Soon after they announced their engagement, William and Kate sat down for their first-ever joint interview – and it’s still their longest to date.
