Titanic stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet are going on a date. No, they’re not fulfilling the dreams of Jack and Rose fans around the world and hooking up in real life. The Oscar winners are going on a date with you!
Or it could be you.
Leo and Kate are auctioning off a two-on-one date with a lucky fan as part of the annual auction gala hosted by the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, which is “dedicated to the long-term health and well-being of all Earth’s inhabitants,” according to its website.
The highest bidder will have dinner with the movie stars (who also starred together in Revolutionary Road to much less acclaim) sometime in October or November at the restaurant of their in New York City.
Proceeds from the gala, which takes place on July 26 in St. Tropez, France, will benefit Dicaprio’s foundation as well as a GoFundMe campaign for a young mother in the U.K. battling cancer. Through her Golden Hat Foundation, Winslet assists children with autism, supports regional charities and individuals raising money for cancer treatment. The actor penned a letter on the GoFundMe page for Gemma Nuttall asking for support.
“Gemma needs further urgent specialist cancer treatment in Germany. Without it, she will die.
I have been in communication with Gemma and her lovely mum Helen, for a while now. And we are all so thrilled that we were able to send Gemma off to the Hallwang for her first round of treatment. I will continue to assist with her costs, but we do still badly need your donations. Join me in supporting this 28 year old Mum! Let’s truly do our best to keep her alive for her 3 year old daughter Penelope, who loves and needs her Mummy so much. We might be able to save her life with these desperately needed funds for this essential treatment. So spread the word out there! Let’s all tell as many people as we know, and please keep the words of support coming and the incredibly generous donations coming.
Everyone deserves the best chance at life, let’s all try to help Gemma and Penelope have theirs!”
Bidders with aspirations of dining with Leo and Kate will have to shell out some serious coin. The 2016 gala raised $45 million.
