Daniel Radcliffe doesn’t need a wand, broom, or even glasses to play the role of hero in real life.
According to the Evening Standard, the Harry Potter star rushed to the aid of a man attacked by two moped riders in West London on Friday, July 14. Former police officer David Videcette witnessed Radcliffe consoling the victim – a male in his 50s – who was slashed across the face and robbed of his Louis Vuitton bag by the alleged assailants.
“It was a bit of the surreal moment, I said ‘you’re Daniel Radcliffe’ and he replied ‘I am’,” Videcette told the newspaper.
“He was a really nice bloke, a lot of stars wouldn’t have stopped to help,” he added. “The victim was very, very shaken up.”
Not to be lost in the story was Videcette’s heroics. The former cop noticed something was amiss and called the police before witnessing the mugging and pursuing the alleged attackers.
“They slashed him in the face with the knife and made off down the King’s Road,” he said. “I tried to follow them, but I lost them as they were jumping red lights.”
A spokesperson for the actor confirmed Radcliffe’s presence during the incident but gave no other details, calling it a “police matter.”
It’s always refreshing to see celebrities do the right thing in a time of panic and our favorite wizard lad wouldn’t stand for a muggle being mugged in broad daylight.
Well done, Mr. Potter…excuse us…Mr. Radcliffe!
