Workers at a Waffle House in Charlotte, North Carolina were delighted when New Kids on the Block singer and Blue Bloods actor Donnie Wahlberg stopped by the restaurant, but it’s what he did after his meal that had them really excited.
Following his dining experience on Wednesday, July 12, Wahlberg left a $2,000 tip for the staff. His reasoning behind the generous donation had as much to do with his personal experience in the food industry as it did with the performance of the crew.
“My mom waited tables, and my dad tended bars– for years!” Wahlberg wrote on Facebook. “So, when I walk into a Waffle House, and the staff treats me like a king, you better believe I treat them like queens!”
Wahlberg, who was in town for the New Kids on the Block “Total Package Tour,” also shot a Facebook Live video where he visited with a Blue Bloods fan named Jasmine (to whom he gave backstage passes), shared his adoration for the restaurant, and sang “Uptown Funk” with his new friends.
“This Waffle House is happening!” he said.
“Another Night, Another Waffle House”
Wahlberg’s love for Waffle House is nothing new. He previously shared snaps from visits to locations in Ohio and Maryland.
