On their various HGTV programs (which includes Property Brothers and Brother Vs. Brother), twin brothers Jonathan Scott and Drew Scott find and fix homes for complete strangers.
When the cameras aren’t rolling, the Canadian-born twins are as equally kind and charitable in helping others.
For the better part of a decade the light has shone on all the good deeds the Scotts perform on television, now it’s time to shift the focus to the real Jonathan and Drew and the philanthropic lives they lead.
Property Brothers Personal Lives
For those ladies hoping to one day land either of the handsome brothers, sorry, but both are off the market. Drew got engaged to his fiancé, Linda Phan, in December 2016 while Jonathan is in a serious relationship with girlfriend, Jacinta Kuznetsov.
“This is the most humbling, unexpected, fantastic place to be in my life,” Jonathan recently told People. “I’ve never been happier.”
“I’ve always been focused on work, so to have this beautiful woman in my life and knowing we’re going to get married, it’s amazing,” said Drew in the same sit-down interview.
Both men, who turn 40 next year, revealed that children are a strong possibility in their respective futures.
“Linda and I have talked about it, and we’ve considered adopting,” Drew said while Jonathan added that his immaturity will be a positive if and when he decides to become a dad, “I love kids, and I get along great with kids,” he said.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
Drew and Jonathan have certainly shown their affinity towards kids in their support for children related charities.
Arguably one the most famous children’s hospital in the world, St. Jude treats kids stricken with cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
To help bring smiles to the faces of the young patients, Jonathan brought back an old trick that he used while volunteering years ago at local children’s hospitals in his native Vancouver: magic.
“It’s like a magnet. All of a sudden they want you to do it again, do it again!” he recently told Taste of Country. “So I’m willing to break the magician’s code and do a trick more than once, just because I know it’s helping kids be kids.”
And the duo also unveiled another skill covering Flo Rida’s “My House” with a country twist (and with a little help from their friends).
“Country music hits your heart — it definitely does. And so does St. Jude,” Drew said.
If their interview with Entertainment Tonight Canada is any indication, “My House” (proceeds of which go to St. Jude) won’t be the last time we hear the brothers crooning.
“Jonathan and I are filming Property Brothers in Nashville in March,” Drew said, “so we definitely want some collaborations with other artists and we want to write some new music so you will see more.”
Nashville isn’t the only Tennessee city which will be graced by the Scott brothers giving presence. In June 2017, Drew will take part in a fundraising event in Knoxville benefitting the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital.
Let’s Read, Let’s Move
In 2013, Jonathan and Drew joined then-First Lady Michelle Obama’s fight to end childhood obesity hopping aboard the Let’s Read, Let’s Move campaign.
“It’s a huge campaign,” Drew told Samaritanmag, “and it was exciting for us to be a part of it, just to see these kids’ faces. We were reading to a group of 100 or 200 kids. A lot of these kids are underprivileged kids, and they’d never owned a book before so at the end of it we gave them the books. We had obstacle courses set up in the museum. It was just a fun event for them and basically getting them excited about education.”
World Vision
That same year, Jonathan and Drew traveled to New Delhi, India with brother J.D. as global ambassadors for World Vision, a Christian humanitarian organization that helps families and communities around the globe overcome poverty and injustices.
“I strongly believe that we are put on earth to help others. Success just gives us a bigger platform and voice to help those in need,” Drew told Huffington Post. “Organizations like World Vision have been a blessing to work with.”
Of their trip to India, Jonathan said: “I honestly had no idea what to expect and sure enough, once we got there, we definitely experienced a culture shock. There are so many people. But even where we were in the slums we were welcomed with open arms. These people who had nothing invited us in and made us gifts out of flowers and trinkets. It warmed my heart and validated why we were there. I will travel back to India again to continue the work with World Vision. It makes a difference to be on the ground there.”
Scott Giving for St. Baldrick’s Foundation
Shortly after their visit to India, the Scott’s launched Scott Giving, an online shop of branded products, proceeds of which benefit charities they support. Among the organizations receiving support is St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which funds research for childhood cancers.
“We’re excited to bring together our fans, the St. Baldrick’s team, and the families affected by childhood cancers to raise awareness for the cause, and contribute to the funds needed to help find cures for these devastating diseases,” Drew said in an interview posted on the organization’s website.
Rebuilding Together
On the competition series, Brother Vs. Brother, Drew and Jonathan renovate and resell homes throughout Las Vegas. Profits from the sales go toward the local communities via the nonprofit, Rebuilding Together. Jonathan won the first two seasons.
“I will never let him live this down because I won the most important season of Brother Vs. Brother,” Jonathan said. “The best part of the competition, however, was donating our profits to Rebuilding Together and seeing those funds being put to good use right here in our hometown of Las Vegas.”
The latest season sees the duo leave Vegas for Galveston, Texas.
“After two years of doing Brother vs. Brother at home in Vegas, we decided to take the competition as far from the desert as possible. We found the perfect waterfront properties in Galveston, Texas. Not only were these our very first oceanside homes, they were also our first homes on stilts,” Drew told Global News.
Breast Cancer Research
In May 2017, Drew and Jonathan stripped down and took a soak for charity.
The duo joined other famous faces posing in bathtubs for photographer TJ Scott’s (no relation) new book, In the Tub – Volume Two, sales of which support breast cancer research.
Hard copies of the book will cost $89 while $20 donations earn buyers a digital-only version when the book goes on sale during Breast Cancer Awareness month in October 2017.
Time and time again, the Property Brothers show that their hard work pays off, not only in helping their careers but improving the lives of others as well.
