Every year since 2008, former Beatles’ drummer Ringo Starr has encouraged the world to say “peace and love” at noon on his birthday. This year, he’s inviting one lucky fan to join him for the festivities.
“To support the Ringo Starr Peace & Love Fund at the David Lynch Foundation, I’ve teamed up with Omaze to bring you and one of your friends to my birthday brunch in Los Angeles,” Starr said in a video posted to the charitable organization’s website.
As little as a $10 donation will get fans 100 chances to win the contest. As the monetary amount of giving rises, so do the odds of winning. Unique gifts featuring Starr’s likeness and “Peace & Love” are also awarded with a donation of $25 and more.
The David Lynch Foundation was founded in 2005 with the goal of reducing “the epidemic of trauma and toxic stress among at-risk populations through the implementation of the evidence-based Transcendental Meditation technique.”
Seven years later, the nonprofit organization developed the Peace & Love Fund in honor of Starr and Barbara Starkey. According to Omaze, the Peace & Love Fund has “helped to serve more than 500,000 children and adults worldwide, with a focus on underserved middle and high school students, veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress and their families, and women and children dealing with domestic violence and sexual assault.”
