MTV gave a facelift to its annual movie awards this year by adding television categories and by combining male and female acting awards into one category. Two actors reaping the benefits of the changes were Emma Watson and Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown.
Watson picked up Best Actor in a Movie for her performance as Belle in Beauty and the Beast.

MTV hasn’t had men and women competing against each other in the Best Actor category since 2007.
Beauty and the Beast certainly was the belle of the ball (pun intended). Not only did the live-action Disney remake score an individual victory for Watson, but the film was also recognized as Movie of the Year and was spoofed in an opening number medley by host Adam Devine, Hailee Steinfeld, Rebel Wilson, and Josh Gad (reprising his role as LeFou from the movie).
On the TV side, Millie Bobby Brown won for Best Actor in a Show for her role as Eleven in the Netflix original sci-fi series, Stranger Things.
The teen actor broke into tears thanking her family during her acceptance speech before giving props to the show’s creators, Matt and Ross Duffer.
“Lastly I want to thank the Duffer Brothers because they’ve created a bada** female, iconic character that I’ve got the honor to play,” she said.
