Singer Christina Grimmie’s life was tragically cut short last June, but her friends and family are making sure she will never be forgotten.
On the April 24 episode of The Voice, host Carson Daly spoke about the late singer and the creation of the Christina Grimmie Foundation. With her family watching on in the audience, Adam Levine, her mentor on Season 6 of the reality singing competition, took to the stage to sing a rendition of The Beatles “Hey Jude” alongside the final members of his team.
“God, I loved her so much. I am talking to you guys specifically, I’m talking to everybody. I miss her,” Adam said to Christina’s family before belting out the tune.
“It is unfair she is not here. We are going to sing a little song. I am going to be singing every word to her in her honor. Thank you for being here. Christina, we love you.”
Levine, like so many people who knew her, was deeply affected by Christina’s death and even offered to pay for her funeral and the families travel expenses following her passing.
The Maroon 5 frontman signed Grimmie to his label, 222 records, shortly after her appearance on The Voice and the two were working closely on developing the next steps of her career.

Christina’s name has been in the news lately. First, with the release of her music video for her newest single “Invisible” (which coincided with what would have been her 23rd birthday) and second, with the development of the Christina Grimmie Foundation.
Spearheaded by her parents and brother, the foundation will benefit individuals and families whose lives have been affected by gun violence and breast cancer.
“We as a family have a unique understanding of both of those. So we want others to feel the same support that we felt when we couldn’t think,” her father Bud told Access Hollywood. “That’s what we’re going to do to continue Christina’s legacy of helping others.”
