Tanya Acker lays down the law as one-third of the judges on the syndicated program Hot Bench, but her down time is spent giving back to the community both in the real-world and on social media.
Tanya Acker’s Twitter Advice
Acker is a must-follow on Twitter for aspiring attorneys as she regularly responds to users seeking her law advice.
Appropriately enough during Women’s History Month, Acker shared some motivational words to a young female pondering an application to law school.
“Work hard. Slay – in the classroom. Know you belong there & don’t let anyone convince you otherwise. Go get it!” she wrote.

On the same thread, another follower asked for tips on studying constitutional law, to which Acker replied, “Remember the Constitution is alive and kicking.People will ignore it if you don’t force the issue. Study.it.hard.”

Working with Los Angeles Boy Scouts with Battleship Iowa Museum
We first got to know Acker in 2016 when we visited her at the Battleship Iowa Museum in Los Angeles Harbor where she often brings members of the Western County Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
“Tanya’s been a tremendous advocate and supporter of scouting and especially reaching out to underserved communities in our scouting outreach programs,” said Andrew Sisolack, Director of Field Service WLACC Boy Scouts.
According to its website, the waterfront museum is “dedicated to ‘Celebrating the American Spirit’ through the preservation and interpretation. By sharing the accomplishments and sacrifices of American patriots and engaging visitors in unique and exciting ways PBC brings the ship to life by connecting the past with the future.”
“This ship embodies a lot of American history and a lot of what’s great about this country. It’s a living reminder of that,” she said.
“It’s also a place where kids can get STEM education. It’s a museum, but it’s still an operating battleship,” Tanya added.
The USS Iowa is constantly hosting different events. For a look at the upcoming schedule, click on the Upcoming Events section on its website and check out our full interview with Acker and members of the WLACC troop below!
