The ‘Crocodile Hunter’ Steve Irwin passed away nearly 11 years ago but his joyful spirit and love of animals lives on in his children, who never miss a chance to honor their late dad.
February 22 would have been Irwin’s 55th birthday and his daughter, Bindi Irwin, paid tribute to her father by posting a picture of him to her Instagram account along with the heartfelt caption: “Always in our hearts.”
In the years since his death, both Bindi, 18, and her brother Robert, 13, have carved out their own paths in life and, much like their father, combine the worlds of entertainment and education.
Bindi was first to take of the ‘Crocodile Hunter’ reigns. As young as nine years old she was appearing on talk shows such as Oprah, Ellen, and The Late Show with David Letterman.
In 2014, the Australian Geographic Society awarded her the Young Conservationist of the Year award and a year later she was the Season 21 champion of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars.
Her younger brother Robert is starting to make the talk show rounds, as well. He recently paid a visit to Jimmy Fallon and continued The Tonight Show tradition of funny animal segments. His attire, voice, and attitude were reminiscent of his dad.
The ‘Crocodile Hunter’ may be gone but his legacy is in good hands.
