Taking a break from the small screen, we recently had the opportunity to chat exclusively with “Fresh Off the Boat” star Luna Blaise about her charitable work, advocating for clean water and breast cancer awareness.
Blaise starred in a PSA for the Waterkeepers Alliance last year. The group empowers people around the world to improve at-risk water supplies. Through its 270 organizations, the alliance works to protect rivers, lakes and coastal waterways on six continents.
She told us that she was nervous to represent the brand in the PSA, but her fears diminished once she started to understand its mission.
“I found out what they are doing for the environment, and I thought, wow,” said Blaise. “This is everything I love. This is what I want to be talking about. What I want to get out there.”
Blaise also advocates for breast cancer awareness after losing her aunt to the disease about one year ago.
“She was so young,” she said. “People that are young need to know that breast cancer is not an old person disease now. Clearly, because a lot of young people are getting it,” Luna added.
Blaise added that it’s important for young people to get regular check-ups because a disease like breast cancer can affect a person at any age.

About Waterkeepers Alliance
The Waterkeepers Alliance’s mission is to establish swimmable, drinkable, fishable waterways worldwide by using the method of grassroots advocacy. Waterkeeper Alliance protects waterways in six continents. The Alliance helps communities to ensure they never have to stand alone.
