After Notre Dame’s win over Colgate University on Monday night (December 19), Irish point guard Matt Farrell was expecting to head back to the locker room and celebrate his 13-point game. Little did he know, there was a big surprise in store.
The Junior was shocked after the game when the announcer said that was a special message for Matt on the big screen from his brother, Bo.
Bo Farrell is an Army 1st Lt. who has been deployed to Afghanistan since May. The plan was for Bo to come home in February, but the special message proved there was a change in the original agenda.
“I don’t even know what to say,” Farrell said in his post-game interview.
“I’m just lost for words. It’s awesome, man. I can’t wait to spend Christmas with him.”
Grab some tissues.

Such a cool moment! Matt and Bo’s parents were also surprised. We hope they have a wonderful Christmas together as a family.
