Celebrity Rehab and Loveline host, Dr. Drew Pinsky, spends much of his time raising awareness for mental health issues and now the physician is being honored for his years of work helping others.
Dr. Drew was one of three physicians recognized by The Maple Counseling Center on Wednesday (October 26) at The Montage in Beverly Hills as part of its 42nd annual Maple Ball.
“Dr. Drew has used his fame to do positive work in the community and has used his platforms throughout television and radio to end stigma, educate, and save lives,” Maple Center CEO Marcy Kaplan said in a press release in September.
The Maple Counseling Center is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit dedicated to providing high quality, low-cost counseling and mental health services to those in need across all demographics.
Glee star Jane Lynch and Kate Flannery of The Office provided entertainment for the evening, performing a selection of songs from their live show See Jane Sing, backed by music from the Tony Guerrero Trio. Mike Catherwood (aka “Psycho Mike” from the famed L.A. radio station, KROQ) served as host.
Reality stars Heather and Terry Dubrow of Real Housewives of Orange County and Jason Wahler of The Hills attended the event as did actors Jeryl Prescott (The Walking Dead) and Bianca Kajlich (Rules of Engagement).
The Maple Ball is the organization’s largest fundraiser and proceeds from the event go towards assisting low-income patients who require long-term care as well as training programs for counselors and interns.
Other honorees for the event were Dr. Mason A. Sommers and Dr. Harold Young.
