He’s back on the field, but let’s take a moment to reflect on Russell Wilson’s amazing efforts for children’s health.
The Seattle Seahawks quarterback’s Why Not You Foundation has raised more than $1M for the Seattle Children’s Hospital and its Strong Against Cancer program.
In an interview with People, the charitable athlete said, “Our mission at the Why Not You Foundation is to empower and inspire change in others one individual at a time and one kid at a time, and in turn they pass it on creating a snowball effect.”
He presented a check to the cause during his team’s faceoff with the Dallas Cowboys earlier in the season.
“I’m really grateful to have the opportunity to be able to help and spread the love to these amazing kids. With this donation, I’m praying and believing that a young kid’s life will be saved just like young Milton Wright’s life and many others’ lives so far,” Wilson continued.
According the publication, the proceeds were raised during a summer charity event that Wilson co-hosted with NASCAR driver Kasey Kahne. Why Not You also raised money through in-store promotions at Safeway stores across the country.
