She may have missed her chance to compete in the Rio Olympics in August, but Kendra Harrison still has plenty of reasons to celebrate.
The 23-year-old athlete broke a 28-year world record while competing in the 100m hurdles in London, England on Friday (July 22).
Harrison crossed the finish line in an incredible 12.20 seconds, beating the time formerly set by Bulgarian runner, Yordanka Donkova in 1988.
The darling athlete didn’t realize she had actually broken the record due to an error in the reporting system. When she initially crossed the finish line, computers stated her time was 12.57 seconds. It then readjusted to the record-breaking time, which warranted an awesome reaction from Harrison.
Im the WORLD RECORD HOLDER 12.20😱. I am a walking testimony of how incredible God truly is. pic.twitter.com/TMKVQt2I1g

“Im the WORLD RECORD HOLDER 12.20. I am a walking testimony of how incredible God truly is,” she wrote on Twitter.
This isn’t her first record-breaking run. Harrison first broken the American record of 12.24 seconds in May during the Prefontaine Classic.
And though she’s not competing in Rio, she is still keeping up her competitive spirit.
“After not making the Olympic team, I wanted to show these girls what I have,” she told the press. “You have one bad day but I still knew I had it in me.”
So thankful God brought me to this coach. He believed in me since day one. 🙌🏾 so much emotion https://t.co/VwZhNdM30b
