He speaks! Mark Hamill, aka Luke Skywalker, and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy announced an exciting new charitable initiative surrounding the “Star Wars” empire.
After staring intensely into the screen (SPOILER ALERT!) similar to his ending scene in “Star Wars: the Force Awakens,” Hamill revealed that Star Wars: Force for Change is raising even more money for four organizations during the month of April.
Force for Change started its initial campaign during promotions for the latest installment of the wildly popular film “The Force Awakens” and raised more than $10 million from its fan base.
Now, the charity is matching donations from fans for for organizations up to $1 million through the beginning of next month.
According to Lucasfilm, “This month-long campaign will lead up to ‘Star Wars Day’ on May the 4th. The four select charities include the U.S. Fund for UNICEF in support of UNICEF Kid Power, American Red Cross, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and Make-A-Wish.”
Fans can donate through CrowdRise.com/ForceForChange to not only benefit the four charities, but also enter for chances to win incentives and prizes that update each week.
Plus, all participants who donate enter to win an all-expense paid trip to Ireland to visit Skellig Michael along with Wild Atlantic Way. This is the exact spot where the final scene of “The Force Awakens” takes place.
“Fans will receive one entry to win for every $10 donated or fundraised. For the first week’s challenge (April 5 – April 11), the first 20 fans to raise or donate at least $500 will win a Blu-ray of The Force Awakens signed by the cast,” the Lucasfilm’s team added.
