While celebrating the holiday weekend with his family, Hugh Jackman showed off his real-life superhero skills at Bondi Beach in Australia. “The Wolverine” star enjoyed the sun in Sydney, Australia on Saturday (March 27), but also faced some serious surf that affected his children.
According to multiple sources, the 47-year-old actor helped his son Oscar, daughter Ava and a few other swimmers escape the rip tide that was pulling them away from shore. Jackman jumped into the waves to help the lifeguard stationed on the Aussie beach.

A local news station captured scenes of Jackman grabbing onto the arm of Peter Adam, a bystander who happened to get caught up in the fierce waves.
Adam told the press, “I was assisting [Jackman] to get his daughter up to the sandbar. He then grabbed my hand to [help] get us [both] up.”
Following the intense moments, Bondi Beach was shut down from the intense conditions. The beach’s official Instagram page posted a photo after the incidents and gave a shout out to the star, writing, “@thehughjackman was also spotted assisting with rescues! Thanks Hugh.”
Jackman’s rep Michele Schweitzer played down the intensity of the rescues and told USA Today, “Hugh is completely fine as is his family. The incident looks far more dramatic than it actually was.”
