Lady Cilento Hospital in Brisbane, Australia had a surprise visit from Jack Sparrow himself. While he and the crew were filming their upcoming movie, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, a few of the cast members decided to take a bit of a detour from the set and visit children at the hospital.
Both Kaya Scodelario and Johnny Depp, among a few others, took time aside to take pictures, have a chat and sign things for the children. Rachel Bennet mother to Max, a seven-year-old patient at Lady Cilento, discussed how Depp was with the children stating, “He was going from room to room seeing all the kids who couldn’t get out of bed. We waited out of the front of one of the rooms, and he came up to us and had a really good chat to Max. It was really beautiful. Everyone kept on trying to move him on, but he kept on coming back to be with the kids.” The event was filmed by Juiced TV, an in-house television program run by the hospital and created by the young patients. It allows for them to work on their creativity and have a hobby while within the hospital. Overall, this surprise pirate attack seemed to be just what the patients needed and was very much welcomed.
