The pop princess is proving, yet again, that she loves her fans more than anything. Naomi Oakes, an 11-year-old self described “Swiftie”, was diagnosed earlier this year with leukemia and later told her aggressive form of cancer would mean a six to nine month stint in the hospital. Naomi’s stay would mean she would miss Taylor Swift’s Phoenix concert, August 18th.
To show her dedication to Taylor, Naomi made a video about how she plans on fighting cancer head-on with the song “Bad Blood” as her theme. The video was uploaded to YouTube and has 33,000 views at the moment. Two days after the post, Swift did something amazing. She donated a whopping $50,000 to the families GoFundMe page, writing, “To the beautiful and brave Naomi, I’m sorry you have to miss it, but there will always be more concerts. Let’s focus on getting you feeling better. I’m sending the biggest hugs to you and your family.”
Naomi’s cause hit home as Swift herself recently disclosed to fans on her Tumblr page the heart breaking news that her mother, Andrea, has cancer. Though her treatment plans and further information are private, our thoughts and prayers are with the Oakes and Swift families.
