When people discuss travel, what places come to mind? Paris, London, New York, Milan, Tokyo? The “typical” travel spots, ones that are usually overrun with tourists and incredibly pricey. So we’ve begun researching places that aren’t quite your typical destinations to go to, but still amazing. Among the many found was Lima, Peru. Though people claim Lima is boring, the reality is you can definitely spend a few exciting, fun filled days here before moving onto neighboring areas like Cusco and Machu Picchu.
The center of town, known as the Plaza Mayor, is the point of activity where there are festivals and markets to attend, in addition to boutiques you can visit. The Cathedral of Lima is important as it is the religious representation of the town and it is architecturally astounding, definitely worth a visit. The Museo Larco is also on the list for those of you who enjoy ancient artifacts and learning what these cities looked like hundreds of years ago. With admission under $12, you just can’t say no. Peruvian cuisine is delicious and with Peru having a central focus on food, there are multiple companies that host food tours. Research whichever will fit you best online and be sure you’re ready for a day of eating.
So this year, take a break from planning to go to Paris and dealing with crowded streets and overpriced everything. Go off the beaten path and attempt something new. Lima could be that place for you… Who knows?
