Last Friday, Good Celebrity had the terrific good fortune to attend the Style Fashion Week Los Angeles kickoff as a guest of new friend Susan Holmes McKagan, whom we also put through the ringer during our hard-hitting interview you can watch below. (OK, ‘hard-hitting’ may be a stretch. More like ‘loud-speaking.’)
Susan walked the runway for couture designer Farah Angsana at the event to support the Farah Angsana Life Foundation which advocates for the homeless and orphans in Indonesia. It also provides clean water, clothing and basic survival skills to those in need, according to Susan.
Susan is about as down to earth as it gets considering she’s spent most of the last three decades soaking in the limelight as a Supermodel. Between her amazing career, posing on the covers of big-named publications like Vogue and walking the runways for famed designers including Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Calvin Klein, Prada, Versace, Marc Jacobs, Jean Paul Gaultier; and her rock star husband Duff’s career as a member of Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver; the pair has traveled the world. We also had the opportunity to meet and catch up with Steve Jones of Sex Pistols fame. Steve’s currently hosting “Jonesy’s Jukebox” on KLOS-FM.
When she’s not in front of the camera or chauffeuring her two teenage daughters, (she and Duff routinely forgo the ‘celebrity driver’ in exchange for extra quality time with the kids) she’s working behind the scenes to support causes close to her heart. Susan is an advocate for animal and human rights and works to raise awareness for her causes.
Susan recently posed in a print ad with her hubby for PeTA’s “Ink Not Mink” campaign, showing off her tattoos. She and her team also recently paid a visit to LA’s Skid Row to help those in the homeless community. While there, they provided clothing, blankets, and toiletries as well as haircuts, live music and hot meals.
Susan’s Career in High Fashion
Susan’s career as a model started at the young age of 16. She was discovered in Manhattan and quickly started working with top designers after scoring spots in top agencies including Ford.
Her career also expanded into print campaigns for brands like Victoria’s Secret, Louis Vuitton and Revlon.
Susan is also familiar with covering fashion mags including Vogue, Glamour, W, Maxim, and Marie Claire.
Her modeling career is vast, but it’s not her only dabble in fashion. She’s also the designer for her self-titled swimsuit line, which launched in the late nineties.
Susan Holmes Swimwear is a favorite among celebrities including Kate Hudson, Gwen Stefani and fellow model Heidi Klum. She’s also celebrating her line’s 10th year in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition.

The runway series moved from downtown LA to the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood this year. It brought together more than 20,000 attendees for a collection of gorgeous designs featuring designers like Hale Bob, Malan Breton, Liberty Garden, Armature, Fox Bait and I am Zoe.
Farah Angsana’s collection featured a bevvy of beautiful gowns. Susan played the “good angel” in the show and rocked a floor-length white gown, embellished with stunning sequins. Farah’s collections are beloved by stars including Carrie Underwood, Olivia Wilde and Teri Hatcher.
