The entertainment industry lost a legend on Sunday (January 10). David Bowie passed away after an 18-month battle with cancer. He was 69 years old.
Bowie’s representative released a statement on the star’s Facebook page, which read, “David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family.”
In honor of the legendary performer, UK independent music retailer Rough Trade revealed it’s supporting cancer research throughout the month of January. The store plans to donate all of its profits from sales of Bowie’s music to charities focusing on a cure for cancer.

Bowie released his final studio album “Blackstar” on Friday (January 8), just two days before his death. The album surpassed 43,000 sales since its Friday release and is expected to reach the number one spot on the charts this week.
